Maths - geometry

We have been learning about shapes and position words. Position words tell us where something is or where it is going. 

We use words like: On the cushion, on the mat, In front, behind, the back of the class, around, under, beside, between, middle, on top, in, through, out, off. 
We have also learned about turns and can make full and half turns. Quarter turns were new for us and can be tricky.

Task: Pick a picture of the blocks in a pattern (dont show your buddy). Using our maths words describe how to make the pattern. Remember to give accurate clear instructions.

Success Criteria:

Reflection

I can: look at the card and I tell my buddy how to build it.

It was hard when: when Toby got a tricky card it was hard to make the sail. It was a bit like a house but it wasn't.

I really liked: doing maths in the playground, going up the slide and turning when I played Simon says.

You can use the correct names for shapes and our maths position words to give instructions to get your buddy to make the pattern to match the card. It can be tricky to use your words rather than point your finger to show where the shape should go, keep on practising and it will get easier and easier!
I am pleased that maths in the playground and Simon Say's helped your learning. We had great fun and time to practise our tricky instructions like 1/4 and 1/2 turn.
